Acclerating NTFS partition
By removing the creation of registered 8.3 on NTFS partitions and updating of the field Last Access Time Stamp each time you access to a folder accelerate performance vĂ³lumenes NTFS
In NTFS partitions with a lot of files named long and constant access to them, we can significantly increase performance if disable the creation of filenames in 8.3 format. However, if any installation program of old 16-bit applications stops working, we can revive the creation of 8.3 filenames on a temporary basis so that the installation is carried out successfully.
OPEN "regedit.exe" from the Start menu and go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ FileSystem. Create or modify a DWORD value "NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" containing "1" to turn off the creation of 8.3 filenames.
Likewise, when Widnows XP When accessing a directory on an NTFS volume, updates the field Last Access Time Stamp (last done access) at the MFT for each of the subdirectories to find. Thus if we sailed by folder with a large number of subdirectories, the speed in exploring files decrease. To disable this feature,
Open "regedit.exe" from the Start menu GO to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ FileSystem. Create or modify a DWORD value "NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate" whose contents will be "1" to disable the update of this field in NTFS partitions
